Work means different things to different people.
For some, it is about earning money. For others, it is about routine, confidence, independence, or feeling part of a team.
For Adam, work is an important part of everyday life.
Having a paid job gives Adam the opportunity to contribute, build relationships, and be recognised for the skills and qualities he brings to the workplace. Like many people, work is part of his routine and helps provide structure, purpose, and a sense of achievement.
Employment is often about much more than the tasks themselves. It can create opportunities to learn new skills, meet new people, and grow in confidence over time.
Through his role, Adam has continued to develop his experience and independence while becoming a valued member of the workplace. The relationships he has built and the responsibilities he has taken on demonstrate what can happen when people are given opportunities to succeed.
At Options, supporting people to pursue employment and achieve their goals is an important part of what we do. Through encouragement, opportunities, and practical support, people are able to build confidence and take steps towards the future they want for themselves.
This is about contribution, opportunity, and being recognised for what you can do.
Because a full life is not only about having support when you need it. It is also about having opportunities to work, build confidence, and play an active role in your community.

A question for all of us
This Learning Disability Week, we’re asking people to look beyond assumptions.
Do you see someone in paid work?
Or do you also see someone building confidence, developing skills, contributing to a team, and creating opportunities for the future?
Do you see Adam?

What does a full life look like?
A full life looks different for everyone.
For some people it’s having a place to call home.
For others it’s travelling independently, pursuing a passion, finding paid work, building confidence, or helping others.
Throughout Learning Disability Week, we’re celebrating the people, experiences and opportunities that help make every person’s life uniquely their own.
