But teaching happens every day in all kinds of ways.
Sometimes it is sharing knowledge, helping someone learn a new skill, or showing confidence in something you enjoy and encouraging others to take part.
For Yurena, being “the teacher” is about sharing experiences, skills, and personality with the people around her.
Yurena has always had plenty of ideas and a passion for helping others learn. Determined to prove that she could turn those ideas into reality, she began setting money aside each week to cover the cost of materials and room hire while also developing the digital skills needed to plan and organise her sessions.
At first, Yurena needed support to structure and prepare her sessions. Over time, her confidence grew and she developed the skills to run them independently. Today, she delivers activities herself and has gone on to run art therapy sessions at The POD, combining her creativity with her passion for supporting others.
At Options, opportunities like these help people develop skills, pursue their interests, and share their strengths with others. For Yurena, those opportunities have become a platform to inspire confidence, encourage learning, and continue growing in independence.
This is about determination, creativity, and turning an idea into something real.
Because a full life is about more than receiving support. It is about having opportunities to share your strengths, follow your ambitions, and inspire other people along the way.
