The steps to getting support

Step 1

Gather information so you feel informed about your decision. Take a look at our What is supported living? page to get a feel for the support that will suit you or your loved one.

Step 2

Speak to social services through either a social care worker or Care Manager to get a Care Assessment. This will determine how much funding you receive. You can do this for Liverpool, Sefton and Wirral.

Step 3

Choose your support. How would you like to be supported? Our dedicated Development Managers can speak to you about this. They’ll come out to visit you at a time that suits you.

Step 4

Clarify how costs are being covered. When your Care Assessment is complete, it will become clear how much support can be provided through social services.

Step 5

Getting to know you. We spend time getting to know the real you (or your loved one) so we can create a Person Centred Plan that fits you perfectly.

Step 6

Finding the right team for you. We will match or recruit a dedicated support staff team for you. We recruit people based on their values and heavily invest in training to ensure they’re doing the best job they can.

Step 7

Living life to the fullest. With your care plan and dedicated team in place, we’re ready to get you started on living life to the fullest. We constantly review how we’re supporting you to ensure we’re getting it right.

“Attending the conference broadened my understanding of social care and inspired me to advocate for inclusion and voting rights for people with learning disabilities.”

How is our support paid for?

Personal budget

Following a needs assessment or carer’s assessment, the local authority decides if you need support. One of the outcomes of this assessment is that you could need financial assistance and will be allocated a Personal Budget. This is the money the council assigns you to cover any support costs. If you are allocated a Personal Budget, you can choose to have the money paid directly to you and choose the services you want.

Private income

You or a loved one pays for support privately and covers 100% of the costs. This option provides complete flexibility in choosing the type and the level of support needed. It also allows for immediate access to care without waiting for local authority assessments or approvals.
