Gifts in Wills

Leave a legacy for a better world.

Leave a gift in your will to help us create a better world for people with disabilities.

We believe people should be able to choose who they spend time with, the passions they want to pursue and ultimately create a life that’s worth living on their terms. By leaving a gift in your will, you can help transform lives for years to come.

Your legacy gift will:

two women take part in a cookery class

Support inclusive activities and life-enhancing learning

From art workshops to community events, your gift helps people with learning disabilities discover new passions and build friendships.

Fund campaigns challenging barriers, and promoting disability rights

Your legacy helps us advocate for change, raise awareness, and ensure every voice is heard.

FAQs

Do I need to leave a large amount?

Not at all. Every gift, no matter the size, helps us continue our work.

Will my family miss out?

Family and loved ones come first. Many supporters choose to leave a small percentage to charity after providing for their family.

Are gifts to charity tax-free when included in a Will?

Yes. Gifts to registered charities are exempt from Inheritance Tax. If you leave 10% or more of your estate to charity, the tax rate may reduce from 40% to 36%.

Can I change my Will later?

Yes. You can update your Will at any time by creating a codicil or writing a new Will.

Do I need to notify the charity?

You don’t have to, but we’d love to thank you and keep you informed about the impact of your future gift. To notify us, please complete this form or email Julie.mcadam@optionsempowers.org.uk.

Do I have to use Farewill to write my will?

If you would prefer to use your own solicitor, that’s absolutely fine – you don’t have to use our free service. You’re welcome to speak to a solicitor local to you if that’s your preference. If you do choose to leave a gift to Options, please let us know.
